Showcase 2008 a success!
Our last showcase held in the Civic Theatre Tallaght was a great success thanks to the participation of those who contributed films and the film lovers who attended. Over 160 people showed up to see what the unseen talented no bugeters have been up to.

Guests included students from DIT, the cast and crew of The Hellfire Club, Chris Dunne of ZMO Productions in Scotland, the crew of Dead End Productions alongside other contributing independant film makers. This year we had the privelidge of showing our home grown talent with our counterparts from Scotland and the States.

'Fallen' in pre-production - December 08

Synth Rock band Kodelle have been meeting with the Academy regarding the production of their music video Fallen. Already we has chosen alocation to shoot in Tullomore as well as a DOP and Photographer. The Academy has decided to step up and Direct the production themselves, however, all other roles will be filled by Academy Members including showdowing internships.

The consept of the video (which we are keeping to ourselves for now) has created quite a few challenges. Some shots, such as the cromakey green or blue screen shots will be very complex. In some scenes we will have a charactor interact with themselves so eye lines for the actors will be very important. Also, framing for the DOP will be challenging from both aspects of each charactor so a good eye will to crutial for correct capture or a fast set of legs will be a must when the editor sees the footage!

Re-vanping the Academy - September 2008

We do appreciate that the Academy has not had a web presence for the last couple on months. We apologise for this but it was necessary as we have been putting in place a legal structure for the company. We believe that the strong foundation built by our directors and supported by our members has created a platform for a company that can grow with continued support.

Because of this we have taken some necessary steps to strenghten ourselves legally. This will provide both us, our members and investors with additional protection for future projects.

Academy Re-cycles - August 08

We are currnetly putting boxes into companies around Dublin to collect used printer cartriges, fax toners and phones. These items when collected in mass, provide funds to help fund short films and a place to show then. It is an environmentally friendly way of fundraising and the process is quite simple. We deposit a box at the premisis. When the box is full, call the number provided on the box and we will send someone to collect and replace it for you.

If you work for or own a business that you think could yeild any of the above re-cycleables, please contact Christian at 086 3133641 or christian@filmacademyireland.ie.
